This RS232 to TTL Serial Interface Module features the MAX3232 transceiver integrated circuit (IC), enabling efficient serial communication between TTL and RS232 ports through essential electrical signal conversion.
Typically, the board includes a DB9 connector on one end and four header pins with jumper cables on the other. The jumper cables allow easy connections to a breadboard or microcontroller project, while the DB9 connects directly to a computer’s COM port.
The MAX3232CSE IC comes in a 16-pin narrow SO package, operating within a voltage range of 3.0 V to 5.5 V. It includes two receivers and two transmitters, with a maximum guaranteed data rate of 120 kbps. The circuitry requires four 0.1µF charge-pump support capacitors and is compatible with the well-known MAX3232 IC pins. This module connects to systems with UART, making it suitable for use with ATMEL and PIC microcontrollers.
